Parts Warehouse problem

01 — Problem

The challenge.

Volusion could not carry a ten-million-item catalogue or the order volume that came with it. Search was the sharpest problem: a catalogue that size is useless unless a customer can find the exact part that fits their vehicle.

  • Ten million items to migrate
  • No acceptable downtime window
  • Fitment accuracy across vehicle models
  • Two fulfilment routes, one checkout

02 — Solution

What we delivered.

We rebuilt the storefront and the systems behind it as a custom platform, then migrated the catalogue, order history and customers across in 32 weeks. Fitment lookup by vehicle model runs on Elasticsearch, and the order pipeline routes warehouse stock and supplier drop-ships without the customer seeing a difference.

  • Fitment search on Elasticsearch
  • Volusion migration in 32 weeks
  • Warehouse and drop-ship routing
  • SMS and email order notifications
